iMetrikus Receives Prestigious Moby Award
for Excellence in Mobile Health Applications
iMetrikus Recognized for Innovative Use of Mobile Technology to Deliver
Personalized Healthcare Information to People with Chronic Conditions
Carlsbad, CA, November 28, 2001 -- iMetrikus, Inc., announced
today that they have been awarded the Moby Award in healthcare, an annual
award presented by the analysts at Mobile Insights to recognize achievements
in innovative deployment of mobile technology. The Moby Awards were initiated
by Mobile Insights to acknowledge excellence in those who implemented
cutting edge mobile computing and data communication technology to resolve
a major business issue. Selections are based on innovation, impact on
users, and robustness. Wireless Knowledge, a subsidiary of QUALCOMM Incorporated
(NASDAQ: QCOM) and a leading provider of strategic mobility solutions,
submitted nomination for the award.
Working together with Wireless Knowledge, iMetrikus introduced a new
class of online healthcare monitoring applications that are available
to mobile device users. These applications give patients the freedom to
access their medical data on devices including Internet-enabled PDAs,
mobile phones, and pagers making it easier for them to comply with their
healthcare regimens.
iMetrikus' applications take Internet health monitoring to a new level
by giving patients the freedom to send and receive data while on the go
- and as a result, more easily monitor their health regimens. By encouraging
patients to be more compliant with their treatment programs, the solutions
foster better outcomes for patients and may ultimately lower healthcare
costs.
"Our partnership with iMetrikus has improved patient care by making
mission-critical health information available on a variety of mobile devices,"
said Eric Schultz, chairman and CEO of Wireless Knowledge. "We're
excited to be recognized for our pioneering work in mobile healthcare
solutions."
"By adding mobility to interactive health monitoring, providers
can reach out to patients on a 24/7 basis which makes it easier for patients
to stay in compliance with their health regimens," said Jae Evans,
iMetrikus' President and Chief Technology Officer. "Working together
with Wireless Knowledge, we were able to extend the reach and influence
of mobile health data monitoring applications to the broadest range of
people."
About iMetrikus Mobile Solutions
MetrikAnywhere lets patients and caregivers exchange healthcare information
from any location. Deployable across a broad range of wireless-enabled
devices, it transports blood glucose readings from a patient's handheld
glucose monitor and forwards them wirelessly to the patient's secure health
record where they can be immediately accessed by the healthcare team for
review and intervention. MetrikAnywhere gives users the mobility they
need while keeping their healthcare team informed.
MetrikList mobilizes Web-based task lists to help a patient monitor his
or her condition. These task lists are pushed out to a patient's Internet-enabled
mobile phone, PDA, or laptop. In addition, notifications can be pushed
to a patient's mobile phone, reminding them to begin a particular task.
Unlike most applications that push data to a mobile user, MetrikList is
interactive, allowing the reminder to be sent and also responded to immediately.
