Home Diagnostics Inc. Adopts iMetrikus Solution
For Glucose Data Uploads
Leading Manufacturer of Blood Glucose Monitoring Systems and iMetrikus
to Deliver Data Management and Compliance Solutions for Rapidly Growing
Diabetes Community
Carlsbad, CA, June 21, 2001 -- iMetrikus, Inc., announced
today that Home Diagnostics, Inc., (HDI) a rapidly growing developer of
diabetes test kits, has entered into an agreement with iMetrikus to provide
their community of users a turn-key solution to easily upload their blood
glucose results into a secure, interactive health record.
This strategy enables HDI to quickly launch a full-featured, interactive
application with their new Prestige IQ blood glucose monitoring
system. iMetrikus' Internet-based application offers HDI's patients a
platform for improved communication with their healthcare professionals,
and gives patients the personalized resources and information they need
to monitor their condition.
Dedicated exclusively to building products for the diabetes community,
HDI is a company whose sales of blood glucose meters represent an estimated
32% share of all meters sold with chain retail pharmacies. HDI sells the
co-branded Prestige Smart System through Walgreen's, CVS, Eckerd,
as well as over 30 other major retail and national distribution partners.
With the large-scale release of the new Prestige Smart System IQ
Meter, HDI and iMetrikus will launch a co-marketing campaign to both the
clinician and retail channel promoting the new Internet capabilities and
encouraging adoption amongst HDI's patient population.
In order to help fuel its rapid growth, HDI will enhance its Prestige
Smart System by introducing iMetrikus' Internet uploading capabilities
to track, graph, and print glucose test results--results that may be shared
with physicians in print or on-line. HDI will make the service broadly
available. The service is free to patients, but does require Internet
access and a Prestige Smart System Interface Cable (available directly
at www.prestigesmartsystem.com or 1-866-476-3837).
"Our goal as a company is to make life easier for people with diabetes
by helping them accurately monitor their blood glucose levels and manage
their diabetes," commented Tom Panik, HDI's vice president of U.S.
sales and marketing. "iMetrikus has made it possible for us to rapidly
extend an extremely valuable service to individual customers who have
diabetes, as well as providing an additional competitive advantage to
our corporate customers."
"By leveraging the core strengths of our respective companies, HDI
can now offer healthcare professionals an information platform to enhance
patient care, in addition to providing their business partners the opportunity
to boost their brand image and bottom line. Plus, with HDI's rapid growth,
this agreement will make our service available to potentially millions
of diabetes patients," said Joseph Condurso, iMetrikus' senior vice
president of sales and business development. "Our agreement with
HDI represents the latest milestone in our efforts to link patients, providers
and healthcare companies."
