iMetrikus Reaches Milestone by Integrating Support of 25th Device for MediCompass

Remote Monitoring and Tracking for Chronic Care Management Extends to Diabetes, Respiratory, and Cardiovascular Conditions

Carlsbad, CA, April 14, 2003—iMetrikus announced today that MediCompass, a chronic care monitoring program, now accepts seamless data uploads from 25 health-monitoring devices. As part of its open architecture strategy, MediCompass supports upload of data from most commercially available blood glucose meters, as well as insulin pumps, blood pressure cuffs, digital scales, cardiac profiling devices, and the AirWatch Asthma Monitor.

By supporting an extensive range of devices uploads, MediCompass dramatically increases patient participation and compliance—giving physicians an uninterrupted view into patients' changing medical conditions, and spotting potential problems at their earliest stages. Unlike most other health programs that typically support single-user, single platform functionality, MediCompass delivers the ability to support a broad spectrum of data uploading to be more useful to broader patient populations, more accurate, and more consistent for clinicians.

MediCompass delivers fast access to clinical data and provides an easy-to-use, objective remote health monitoring program in order to optimize treatment plans and improve patient adherence and compliance. This type of access to data allows physicians and patients to benefit from increased quality of care and patient satisfaction through fast and easy access to objective health information.

"MediCompass allows our office staff to collect key metrics, such as blood glucose, weight, and blood pressure in real-time and gives us an up-to-date snapshot of our current outcome data on demand," Timothy Bailey, MD, FACE, a San Diego endocrinologist and assistant clinical professor at UCSD. "We previously had no way to obtain this data without costly chart audits. With the extensive device support, patients upload their meter at home and reduce time-consuming downloading at the clinic. Patients perceive the office as proactive in using cutting-edge technology."
