LIVING INDEPENDENTLY PARTNERS WITH iMETRIKUS TO
PROVIDE PATIENT MONITORING AND IN-HOME SECURITY
Combined QuietCare and MediCompass System Monitors Safety and Chronic Conditions of Homebound Elderly
NEW YORK, March 11, 2005 — Living Independently Group, Inc., is a home health security company dedicated to helping senior citizens live more safely in their own homes and iMetrikus, Inc., an interactive health management company, have announced they will jointly market a system to enhance the security and health of the homebound elderly and other at-risk clients with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and COPD.
Under the terms of the agreement, the companies will offer a solution that both monitors the safety and security of homebound senior citizens and also tracks the individual's key biomedical measurements such as blood sugar, blood pressure or lung function.
Living Independently's patented technology-based service QuietCare™ provides early detection and warning of potential health problems to family and professional caregivers, thus providing peace of mind to family caregivers as well as helping eldercare institutions improve the quality and efficiency of care giving.
MediCompass from iMetrikus is a proven, Internet-enabled health management system that supports the sharing of objective data to actively monitor a chronic condition. The company's MetrikLink®, connects to over 30 different personal monitoring devices such as blood glucose monitors and transmits data to authorized care team members using standard telephone lines.
“By leveraging the power of the Quiet Care and MediCompass solutions, we will now be enabling our clients to monitor not only patients' safety and security but also their health status. We believe this provides a uniquely comprehensive solution for senior citizens and those who care for them at home,” said John R. Lakian, Chairman & CEO, Living Independently Group, Inc. This offering marks the first time that all of these indicators are available to caregivers, family members and health care professionals through one unified system.”
“Our goal is to provide the necessary support to allow patients to remain independent and in optimal health,” said Matt Sanders, CEO, iMetrikus. “Using the MediCompass and Quiet Care system, caregivers will be alerted to changes in the patient's normal activity.
QuietCare utilizes unobtrusive motion sensors and sophisticated algorithms to “learn” and analyze certain activities of daily living of the elderly or other at-risk clients; identify significant changes in normal patterns; and, when there is a deviation, alert family members, care givers and health care professionals via a variety of means including telephone, email, pager or text message. The system uses simple wireless motion sensors, a standard existing telephone line and sophisticated computer software. It is completely passive as there are no cameras, microphones or special wiring required – and there are no buttons to push or pendants to wear. It is a senior/patient-respectful and family-friendly technology.
Living Independently will continue to offer its QuietCare system to professional caregivers. ADT markets the QuietCare system to the retail consumer market.
