iMetrikus and BT to Present Shared Vision of the Future of Health Care at ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Today

LONDON, February 22, 2005/PRNewswire/ Companies Focus on Metrics and Technology to Improve Health Care Delivery and Outcomes Today, at the ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) iMetrikus, a pioneering California-based healthcare technology company and BT, a UK-wide communications solutions provider with a global reach in the business market, will present their vision of how technology can enable new models of healthcare delivery. The presentation will be featured in a plenary session on eHealth Innovations with the theme: "Looking to the Future."

The ASEM is a multilateral forum for action-orientated debate between the EU Member States and Asian partner countries. It is attended by representatives from the United Nations Agencies, the European Commission and The World Health Organization among others. This year's meeting will highlight technology innovations poised to drive commerce and cooperation in five key sectors including e-Health.

Dr. William Rutter, co-founder Chiron Corporation and Chairman, iMetrikus will focus his e-Health remarks on the value of metrics and the need to incorporate objective data on an individual's health and disease status into all chronic care and preventative programs. Jo Wright, Managing Director, Global Healthcare Business, BT Consulting & Systems Integration, will speak about the importance of technology and the infrastructure required for tele-health to be accepted and utilized in the mainstream.

"I am delighted to be sharing the podium with Jo Wright at this important event," said William Rutter, Chairman, iMetrikus. "Since founding Chiron I have been keenly interested in identifying and creating ways for the greatest number of people to benefit from advances in health care. Using an open system that collects, coordinates and shares patient data in real time is, I believe, the foundation for engendering meaningful and sustainable change in healthcare delivery."

Jo Wright, said: "Results from pilot studies have clearly shown that an integrated, technology-led system results in more effective self-management of disease and a lower cost of service. By combining objective measurements with a sophisticated but intuitive e-Health infrastructure, patients, caregivers, payers and the industry all will benefit."
