iMetrikus Announces Major Enhancements to MyHealthChannel.com

Automated Glucose Meter Uploads, Customizable Reports and Graphs, and Interactive Bulletin Board & Chat Helps People Better Control Health

San Diego, CA, January 25, 2001 -- iMetrikus today announced the release of new features and capabilities for MyHealthChannel.com. The interactive Web community is built for people with both chronic conditions and personal health management goals who strive to take better control of their health. MyHealthChannel is an XML-based health monitoring tool that allows members to directly upload results and data from portable medical devices including blood glucose monitors. New reporting and graphing tools permit health information to be displayed in flexible timeframes and formats-all of which can be easily printed for enhanced communication with healthcare professionals.

Chronically ill patients and healthcare professionals are seeking new ways to put the Internet to work for them, and iMetrikus does this by providing personalized tools and resources for each individual's unique health profile.

"I use an insulin pump and test my blood glucose readings eight times daily," said Hal Ingram, 62, of Auburn, Washington. "I'm now retired and living my life's dream of traveling the country with my wife in our motor home. MyHealthChannel helps give me the freedom to travel while tracking and controlling my diabetes, plus creating the information I need to send to my doctor."

Offering a more secure and interactive model than the multitude of other health-related sites, MyHealthChannel individualizes the user experience by delivering health information and services that are based on data relating to each individual's experience. MyHealthChannel now offers bulletin boards, chats and hosted chats with healthcare experts to connect members to other individuals in the MyHealthChannel community.

"Before the enhancements to MyHealthChannel, diabetes patients were forced to track their glucose test results manually or create separate records for individual monitors," said Harvey R. Colten, MD, iMetrikus President and Chief Medical Officer. "We have unified our feature set to provide the most comprehensive diabetes monitoring tool available, enabling our members to take better control of their health and allowing our business partners to better tailor health products and services to meet their needs."

MyHealthChannel New Features

  1. Uploads from Blood Glucose Monitors: Members can easily upload readings directly from blood glucose monitors to their MyHealthChannel record. 2. Members can also learn and share experiences about health issues on bulletin boards focused on a variety of health matters. Each week, there is a featured new post allowing information exchange on diet, stress reduction, specific diseases, alternative therapies and other topics.
