William J. Rutter, Ph.D.
Chairman of the Board
Dr. William Rutter founded iMetrikus and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. In addition, he provides strategic scientific/business advice as the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Synergenics, LLC, a consortium of concept stage biotech startups. Most recently he held the position of Executive Chairman of Chiron Corporation, a leading biotechnology company that he co-founded.
He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and is a member of the National Academy of Science. Dr. Rutter has served on the Board of Directors of Novartis AG, the Board of Overseers of Harvard University, and as Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California San Francisco.
Some of Dr. Rutter's business awards and honors include: a special recognition award from the Biotechnology Hall of Fame for his lifelong contributions (1998), the Heinz Award for Technology and the Economy (1995), the Jacob Heskel Gabbay Award in Biotechnology & Medicine (1999), the Bower Award for Business Leadership from the Franklin Institute (2000), The Chemical Heritage Foundation Biotechnology Heritage Award (2003) and he is an Inductee of the Bay Area Business Hall of Fame (2004).
Matthew Sanders
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Sanders directs the company's development and growth in the expanding online health care sector. Prior to joining iMetrikus, Sanders, a 20-year Silicon Valley entrepreneur, served as Chairman for LifeChart.com. LifeChart.com was the merged entity of ENACT Health Management Systems and the Wellmate Division of Nokia Corporation.
Prior to founding ENACT he was a co-founder of Ardent Computer, Inc., a pioneering developer of the 3-D graphics desktop supercomputer. There he served in various capacities including Chief Operating Officer and Co-Chairman. He also served on the founding team of computer maker Convergent Technologies, where he held multiple positions including Vice President and General Manager of several divisions. In addition, Sanders worked in new product development for Hewlett-Packard Company.
Rose Higgins
President, International
As President, Rose Higgins is responsible for developing the company's strategy, managing day-to-day operations, strengthening the company's infrastructure, developing products and services to meet the needs of new and emerging markets, and preparing the company for the future.
Higgins has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare including operational management, product development, technical marketing, project leadership, and clinical management. She possesses a strong working knowledge of the healthcare industry, networking strategies, provider management issues, product development, and clinical informatics.
Prior to joining iMetrikus, she served as the group director of product marketing and information management for the Pyxis Corporation, a healthcare automation company and Cardinal Health subsidiary. Her responsibilities included product management, technical marketing, and information management strategies for the entire Pyxis product portfolio, including the introduction of seven new product offerings.
Before joining Pyxis, she was an administrative director of medical management at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (Heinz School) and Duquesne University School of Nursing.
Larry Leisure
President, North America
As President, Larry Leisure is responsible for the leadership and performance of sales effectiveness and revenue objectives, business development, and sales and marketing systems planning.
Leisure has several decades of experience in senior consulting and management roles in the global healthcare industry. He has worked with many of the nation’s largest employers, insurers, health plans and pharmacy benefits management firms. He most recently served as Senior Vice President, Sales and Account Management for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., where he was accountable for the leadership and development of world-class sales, account management and distribution capabilities.
Prior to joining Kaiser, Leisure held the position of Global Managing Partner, Health Services Industry, at Accenture, where he was the lead partner for Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser, Medco, United Health and Wellpoint, and led the development of 29 Global Business Launch Centers.
Formerly the Health & Welfare Practice Leader at Price Waterhouse and Group Benefits Practice Leader at Towers Perrin, Leisure is a nationally recognized health benefit consultant and change agent. He is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for The Future and serves on the board of Community GatePath, an 85 year old organization dedicated to helping children and adults with disabilities to live full and productive lives.
Leisure earned his master’s of business administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University.
Steven Yecies
Chief Operating Officer
As President and COO, Steve Yecies is responsible for the guidance and effectiveness of technical, commercial, as well as finance and admin. operations.
Yecies brings over 20 years of experience to iMetrikus having started or been part of the leadership team of seven companies that have brought innovative information technologies and business models to the healthcare and life sciences industries. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare for Pay By Touch, where he assisted health care companies to both streamline and improve existing operations as well as to generate new offerings and businesses through the utilization of innovative technologies.
As founder and general manager of Scient's global health and wellness business Yecies implemented e-business capabilities and solutions for many of the world's leading payer, provider and life sciences companies and institutions.
Prior to Scient Yecies managed his own private investment company, Spanos & Yecies where he served as President and CEO for two of his portfolio companies, including Radiology Management Sciences. He also served as CFO and COO of Electronic Medical Management. Yecies was a long-time member of the Northern California chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and was a member of the YPO Health Care Focus Forum.
Yecies holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a JD from University of California at Berkeley Law School (Boalt Hall), and an AB degree in Government from Dartmouth College.
Deryk Van Brunt, DrPh
Senior Vice President of Business Development
As Senior Vice President, Deryk Van Brunt is responsible for overall business direction and development.
Most recently Van Brunt served as CEO and Chairman of eMedicine, a medical publishing company. Van Brunt teaches health informatics at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health, and conducts research in the area of personal and community health information systems. He has authored articles and commentaries on health information management and communication technology, and serves on several health committees and advisory boards.
He earned his Doctorate in Public Health (health informatics) from the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, and his Masters in Public Health (epidemiology and health information technologies).
